HEALTH CARE TEAM

Support Staff

Administration

Our organization has an administrative team in charge of managing the business side of the Wayzata Children's Clinic. These people are responsible for promoting our role and relationships within the community, for planning the future of the clinic, and for marketing and communications. They also are in charge of the financial, operational, and human resources management within the clinic. Continual quality improvement is part of their role. Please let them hear from you!! The best way for our clinic to measure whether we are accomplishing our mission is to hear from our parents and patients. Reports of both positive and negative experiences are welcome, either in person, on the telephone or in writing. Feel free to contact our Administrator, Corinne Abdou, or our Clinic Operations Manager, Patti Knapp, with any feedback.

Phone Triage Nurses

These are people you may never see but will probably appreciate talking with on the phone. We have RNs working with us in the area of phone triage, and their main responsibility is to answer health care questions and determine if children need to be seen in the clinic. They are in frequent and direct communication with our health care providers. They also talk with the schools and daycare centers in the event medication orders or activity/attendance restrictions need to be transmitted. Our nurses play a big role in creating the health education materials in our lobby and in keeping track of patient education resources.

Medical Assistants (MA's)

These people are responsible for a wide variety of clinic support. They measure and room our patients, assist the health care providers with procedures when necessary, and keep track of prescription refills. They also perform all laboratory work (hearing and vision screenings, throat cultures, X-rays, blood tests, injections, etc.) and report the results to patients and providers. The big job of filling out a majority of physical/school/daycare/sports forms is also the responsibility of the medical assistants.

Receptionists/Schedulers

These are the first people you will probably speak with at our clinic. They answer the phones, direct calls, take messages, and schedule appointments. These people also have the awesome responsibility of coordinating the providers' schedules, rescheduling patients in the event of a schedule change, and solving appointment conflicts. They also set up the computer files for all patients and coordinate referrals to specialists if needed.

Business Office

The people who work in our business office mainly handle the billing (and filing of insurance claims) and the questions from patients and insurance companies regarding services at our clinic. If you have a question about your insurance or bill, these are the people to ask for.

Medical Records

The main responsibility of the medical records staff is the insurmountable and never-ending job of locating patient charts and delivering them to the necessary place (appointments, phone messages, lab results and referral letters to providers, etc.). This department is also in charge of creating new charts, searching down transferred records, and preparing our patients' charts for copy and transfer should a patient move and need records sent elsewhere.
